Himalaya Geological Excursion in Western China
This route extends from the Yarlung Tsangpo River valley to the Himalayas in west-east direction known as "the Roof the World". Major objectives are to examine Early Cenozoic Gangdise pericontinental arc, the Yarlung Tsangpo plate suture zone and relicts of Neo-Tethy oceanic crust, the well-developed Palaeozoic and Mesozoic passive marginal sedimentary sections in Nyalam county, widely-exposed Mesozoic and Cenozoic flysch and molasse formations along the Yarlung Tsangpo River valley and metamorphic nucleus complexes in the Higher Himalaya area.Details... |

Geological Excursion on Hengduan Mountains
This excursion, a distinctive plateau trip, crosses western Sichuan Basin, eastern and central Tiber along the world-famous Sichuan-Tibet highway. Travelling westwards through the Erlang Mountains, the Dadu River, the Jinsha Jiang, the Lancang Jiang and the Nyainqentanglha Mountains to Lhasa, participants will experience the unusual plateau life under the lacks of oxygen with temperatures varying greatly from a valley to a mountain peak and with great height difference.
